Jancis Robinson (17/20):
Single varietal of Carinyena (Carignan) from their own vineyards. Vines were planted between 1985-98 at 350 m elevation, on llicorella soils. Fermented with wild yeast. Aged in chestnut and French oak barrels for nine months. Organic. Production of 1,800 bottles. Family-run winery since 2005. Tasted blind.
This a powerful wine. Extremely youthful, showing a fusion of currants, prunes, and super-dark berries. The nose is exuberant and sweetly scented. It is on the very sweet side. Smooth and jammy texture, convincing and broad palate.
